Michael Probstfeld, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Probstfeld is a native of southern California. He attended Chapman College in Orange California, received a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and graduated Magna cum Laude. He attended medical school at the University of California in Irvine, and his internship and surgical residency were at Kaiser Premanente Medical Center in Los Angeles, California.

Dr. Probstfeld is certified by the American Board of Surgery. He is governor of the Arizona chapter of the American College of Surgeons and Chief of Surgery at Tucson Medical Center.

From 1990 through 1993, Dr. Probstfeld served as a Major in the United States Air Force at Loring Air Force Base in Maine. As Chief of Surgery, he was responsible for regional triage during the Desert Storm conflict.

From 1993 until 1997, he was in private practice in north central Wisconsin and in 1998 moved to Tucson, Arizona to practice.

Dr. Probstfeld is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Surgery at the University of Arizona. He has privileges at St. Joseph’s Hospital as well as Tucson Medical Center, where he serves as Chief of Staff – Elect.

His interests include colon and rectal surgery as well as biliary and laparoscopic surgery. He is involved in the state-of-the-art treatment of varicose vein problems with minimally invasive Endovenous Radiofreqency Therapy, microphlebectomy and sclerotherapy.

Celia Cosico-Probstfeld, RN

Celia has been an integral part of our SALVI team since our inception in 2003. She is a registered nurse and our laser safety officer. Celia also serves as our patient educator, especially in the post-op care area.

AnaLisa Valenzuela, M.A.

AnaLisa joined Dr. Probstfeld more than 10 years ago and has served as his Medical Assistant for all Endovenous Radiofreqency Procedures since the start of Southern Arizona Laser Vein Institute in March, 2003.

In addition,to providing our patients caring assistance, AnaLisa is our on-site compression stocking consultant and can answer all questions and concerns regarding the treatments offered at SALVI.
